Line Slots Third on Friday in Seattle, Aims Higher for Saturday (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]Qualifying got underway on Friday at the NHRA Northwest Nationals in Seattle, WA, and the Pro Stock category took full advantage of the return to more normal conditions, with the top ten cars recording elapsed time in the 6.6-second range despite the unusually warm temperatures at Pacific Raceways.

Coming off his win in Norwalk and runner-up performance in Denver, Summit Racing Pontiac racer Jason Line continued his string of strong performances, with his 6.627-second, 208.84 mph best in the late afternoon session earning him the third provisional starting position. Although the majority of his competitors would be more than pleased with this opening effort, the 2006 Pro Stock champion felt there was still room for improvement.

“On a scale of one to ten, I would rank our first run today a five, and tonight’s a seven,” said Line. “Tonight's was an okay run, and this Summit Racing team is always looking for great runs. It’s not any one thing in particular that the car is doing wrong, it’s just that we need to make better runs so we can get around the cars in front of us. We’ll go over20the data from today, see what we can do to make this Summit Racing Pontiac better, and put ourselves in a better position tomorrow to win on Sunday.”
