Line Qualifies Fourth in Seattle, Clinches Playoff Spot (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]Jason Line completed a solid qualifying effort on Saturday, earning the fourth starting position for Sunday’s final eliminations of the NHRA Northwest Nationals in Seattle, WA. Taking advantage of the slightly cooler conditions, Line recorded his quickest pass in the morning session at 6.597 with a top speed of 209.85 mph to claim his fourth Top Five starting position20in six career starts at Pacific Raceways.

“All in all, we made four reasonably solid runs,” said Line. “Our run this morning wasn’t bad, although we left a little on the table, and then tested some parts on that last run, which showed some promise for the future, so it turned out to be a good day.

“We have a few areas that we still need to work on, but we’re going into tomorrow with a good starting position, and our Summit Racing Pontiac has as good a chance as anyone to win the race tomorrow. It’s all a matter of everyone from the crew to the driver and the car doing their jobs, which is what we plan to do.”

By qualifying, Line was also able to secure his position in the NHRA’s playoffs, the Countdown to One, which start at the Carolinas Nationals in Charlotte, NC. Having assured his participation in the six-race championship tournament, Line and his Summit crew will now use the four races remaining to fine-tune their performance in order to put themselves in the best position to win their second Pro Stock championship.

“Although we felt pretty confident of making the Countdown to One playoff, to clinch a spot with four races to go is a good feeling,” said Line. “It’s nice to get that over with, and now that we’re in we have to concentrate on getting better for when the Countdown starts in Charlotte. Our goal is to peak at the right time this year, which we honestly haven’t done in previous years. The playoff format requires a different mindset, and we’re going to make sure everyone on this Summit Racing crew is ready for it.”
