JIM WIENS AND TORKELSON MOTORSPORTS BACK IN SUPER CHEVY ACTION

BRISTOL, TN (September 20, 2007) – Just coming off an exciting weekend at Ozark International Raceway, Torkelson Motorsports will return to Super Chevy Show, Aeromotive Nitro Coupe racing. With the momentum of a big win for driver Jim Wiens just last weekend, the team is seeking to carry the success into Super Chevy competition.

“What a weekend to say the least,” commented Wiens. “I drove two cars last weekend, our Nitro Coupe in Pro Mod, and my Turbocharged 69 Camaro in Pro Street at Ozark Raceway near Springfield , MO. Driving and tuning two completely different combinations was a challenge, as well just plan fun. Everything from starting the car to the burn-out to making the run is night and day different. Both cars make 2000 plus horsepower, but the way the power comes in and is applied is different. We qualified No. 4 in Pro Mod and No. 2 in Pro Street . Overall, there were a lot of very good cars on the grounds. It was very cool and overcast most of the weekend, so track conditions were a little tricky. Because of the conditions, we were a little conservative on the tune-ups with both cars. Both the Pro Mod and Turbo cars went thru the early rounds with wins. In Pro Mod, we made it to the last 4 cars, but on that run, just as I went into second gear, the front U-joint let go. The sparks and the noise were unbelievable. I got the car stopped, but as I got out something hit my leg; I was sore but ok. We rushed back to the trailer because I won my semi-final round in Pro Street and got the car ready to go to the final. Racing the No. 1 qualifier, we won the race and were so excited I drove the car to the winners circle. Incidentally, with the rain and the oil downs, the racing was completed at 4 am.”

Wiens went on to say, “We slept in on Sunday, and started getting the car ready for Bristol this weekend. Wayne installed new rods, replaced two pistons, and serviced the heads. I built a new driveshaft tunnel and welded cracked headers, so we were busy all week. We will be 100% fresh and ready for this weekend. Bristol is one of my favorite tracks, and I've been here once earlier this year as a clutch specialist on Scott Palmer's Top Fuel car. Our hopes are high for a good showing this weekend, as we have proven that we can run with the best. We are in the final stretch of the season, and I really want to win a race for Wayne and Barbara [Torkelson]. I think they are ate-up with racing as bad as I am.”

With momentum gaining, and a fresh race car, expectations are high for Torkelson and Wiens for this weekend. Searching for their first Aeromotive Nitro Coupe win together as a team is a goal the whole team feels is very obtainable yet this season.

Torkelson Motorsports would like to thank Redline Oil, Super Chevy Show, Aeromotive Fuel Systems and Jim Wiens Race Cars for their continued support.
