NHRA CONFIRMS TO TEAMS ITS 2024 PAYOUTS (2 Viewers)

I don't see how anyone can field a pro car without having someone with deep pockets providing the budget. Anyone know the latest calculations as to what it costs per run taking into account parts, fuel, crew, hotel, etc.? A rich man's playground, no wonder the Surfer's quit.

Pretty much the same in every major motorsport. As an example, the purses are much larger in NASCAR, but the budget required to run that series is exponentially bigger than NHRA. Same with Indycar. I'm not saying they shouldn't be much higher, but there's really no form of professional racing where a few working class buddies can pitch in and run for a title.

You can kind of extend that line of thought into all professional sports teams, period. Many MLB, NBA, NHL, and even NFL teams operate at loss in terms of the amount of money they spend on the team/facilities versus what they bring in through tickets, merchandise, and even TV contracts depending on the size of the market they are in. Now with the stick and ball sports, the value of the asset itself tends to grow exponentially over time (the Baltimore Orioles were purchased in 1993 for $173 million dollars and just sold for $1.725 billion). Making money in professional sports generally happens when you get out, not when you're in.

Maybe not a billionaire, but how much more do you suppose the parcels of land and facilities that JFR and DSR sit on are worth now versus what they paid for them?

just not the ones in oakland ...... when is the last time nhra posted anything about payouts? i don't recall seeing any numbers publicly
advertised maybe since the winston days? ...... why now? cuz of the shootout race? would 3 or 4 races per year with increased payouts be sustainable?
(think LIV golf with unrealistic saudi backed money. they have no tv package. nobody cares) ........ fines are fines. nobody like them, or wants to pay them, no matter
the size of bank account. the folks with big accounts didn't get that way spending money frivolously.

anyone notice that yesterday's centerline story and today's payout story were released on comp plus, but am not seeing them anywhere else?
not even nhra.com or nhraracer.com? ....... complicated figuring on the 'race fund' deal, but it's more money to the racers, especially in non-qualifying positions 👏

It was 10000$ when I rode with Larry Dixon in 2021. It’s 11000$ now.

anyone know if the payouts announced here for 2024, are the highest they've been.......ever? ......since one of the coke brands? ......since winston?

and how about roger brogdon's comp deal again this year. these 10 races will be worth seeing. comp fields are going to be huge.
i know one D5 comp guy who is going to chase roger's cash this year.

could be worse...I still race for the same purse in both Super Gas & Street as I did back in '06-07...actually its for less if you count contingencies

OMG....... I can only hope that some team of successful racing people can purchase the NHRA. Please acknowledge the diversity and fan involvement available. I believe the current administration is not doing enough to further the sport !!!
