Your other hobbies......besides racing (1 Viewer)

I seem to learn more and more things about all our fellows maters each and every day. Here recently I have found out that a few of us all like to gamble, play some poker, alot like to fish and hunt, etc etc etc.

So others than racing, what other hobbies do yall have or what do yall do for fun? Hopefully this thread will kinda be like the job thread started a while ago, very informative and fun to see everyone's replies.

Me, I follow all sports except Brandon Bernsteins soccer, and hockey. I love to gamble. My wife says if there's a way to bet on it I will find it or make one up. I enjoy fishing and hunting. I love to travel. I've been to every state but Hawaii and I think in 2 years maybe, just maybe I will cross that one off my list. My wife and I like to take cruises as well. I like to ride the river, and if I could fit in a kayak I might try and do it but I cant! And I'm a stick and ball sports type kinda guy as well. I love my Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astro's!

Well, as you figured, I love to fish. Used to fish mostly for trout, last year I became a bass fishing addict. It is a blast!!! I do need to get my own boat, but that's another story...:D

We have Yamaha Waverunners for the summer weather, and I toy around with a nitro powered RC car once in awhile. I play some XBOX still (yep..just a big kid) and follow some sports (mostly just baseball and football, NO soccer and hockey just doesn't do it for me.) We do some hiking now and then, and have traveled to a few nice places (Hawaii, Bahamas). And we love our pets, our French Bulldog Lilly, Persian cat Whiskey, and my character of a cockatiel, Dallas (for the Cowboys, of course!)

BTW, I wish everyone would use their photo albums in their profile pages more, I'm trying to keep mine changed around a bit for fellow 'Maters to view.

Come on 'Maters, this is a great thread that Justin started to get to know one another!!!

I'm just a singer in a Rock -n- Roll band!!! Oops! I think I stole that!

My husband & I each have our own bands. Mine is Suzie Q and the Tipps and his is the Mace Maben Band and also Group Therapy. He plays in mine, of course! Mace plays at least 4 nights a week at "regular gigs". So I guess you could say that it is half "hobby" for me and a full time gig for Mace!

Other than that I love cooking. Give me some pots and pans and people........we are gonna eat!!!:D

I like long walks on the beach and cud....oh wait not that kind of ad:D

you mean there are things to do besides Drag Racing.

I am a sports junkie. Beside Drag racing, I also like football, basektball, hockey & baseball. I'm into playing fantasy sports too.

I play on a couple of soccer leagues,(indoor and outdoor) never really followed the sport just started to play to get in some other shape besides round. I like it though now. I also try to play basketball whenever I can, however I have this problem with driving the lane and then forgeting that I'm 33 not 18 anymore. Don't jump as high or far as I used to lol

I coach Special Olympics as well as my kids sport's teams. Soccer, bball, softball, skiing, and track.

We camp, I like to canoe but don't get to do it as much as we used too. A tornado hitting while on the river has left my wife a bit nervous about going again. I would love to try parachuting or hangliding but I didn't realize the small print on the marriage license said I couldn't do that lol

In no particular order:

* Nitromater
* Houston Astros
* New Orleans Saints....any NFL game, really
* Fantasy Football
* LSU NCAA Football-any SEC game
* Supercross
* NASCAR
* Shooting my handguns, but sadly don't spend much time anymore doing it
* Riding dirtbikes (ah-hem...ok, so I only watch the kiddos at this time)
* Various TV shows...gotta love dvr (Deadliest Catch, Jon & Kate + 8, Dirty Jobs, Escape to Chimp Eden, The Shield, Rescue Me, Nip Tuck, Grey's Anatomy, While You Were Out, American Idol....)
* Hangin' with friends sitting around chatting and drinking beer.....OK, PROBABLY MY FAVORITE HOBBY!
* Doing anything with my son and his friends....OK, THAT'S PROBABLY MY FAVE!

Dirt track racing, announced it for about 5-6 years!
Going to the Movie theater
Going to Wiley's Place to hear some good live bands
Eating at Powdrell's BBQ
Eating at Caruso's Italian Restraurant
Going to the Movie theater!

I know I'm boring!;)

Great thread Justin! Besides racing, I am a major sports fan. Baseball and hockey are the tops with me. I'll watch football and basketball too but prefer college over pro. As some of you might know, Suzi and I have 5 kids (Boy age 18, boy 14, girl 13, boy 12, and girl 11) between the two of us so there's a never ending stream of activities and because they're involved, so are we, particularly sports and marching band. Summer weekends, we usually go camping with them up at our cabin on Lake Mille Lacs, one of the largest lakes in Minnesota. Suzi and I love to travel, especially to Vegas and we always go there when the NHRA tour passes thru. She gets to hang out at one of her favorite places (the casino) and so do I (the track).

Keep em coming. I enjoy seeing what everyone likes to do. I left off playing golf and shooting firearms in mine also. I go to several gun shows a month. Its a good thing I'm not rich or my house would be like a artillery store. And most of yall know I'm a fantasy sports fanatic aswell.

I love fitness, and am a trainer and group instructor. I challenge myself with different events when the dates are available without a conflict--ie: triathlon's and multi-day bike rides. It gets harder each passing year, but as long as this ole body can do things, I continue to push myself.
I coached a cheer team for 7 yrs (yes, a former cheerleader) and now sit back and get irritated at the coaching my daughter is subject to in high school, along with 'cheer moms'. Don't get me started on either of those topics!! Oh well, everything is a learning experience, even stupidity.
Love to travel any place that is warm. Beach and beer, the best time to spend.
The only sports I enjoy are the ones my kids participate(d) in. Other than that, NHRA is what I watch, and my kids do the jr racing and also sportsmen. So, I watch a lot of racing, both professionally and local. Fun to do both.
I don't watch much TV other than the races. Nothing on there that interests me at all, but love concerts. Rock music is my genre. Red Hot Chili Peppers kick ass, and have traveled out of state to see them. Next concert up for me and my kids is Stone Temple Pilots and then the Foo Fighters (who have not been here in over 10 yrs--can't wait!).

- besides living at work; cocktail time with friends is high on my list
- traveling (with and without kids)
- watching my kid's school sports
- boating
- hunting
- music

Mark, can we call your Kids Krogen's Hero's?:p

Mark, can we call your Kids Krogen's Hero's?:p

Definitely!! Especially because the younger 4 can all play a musical instrument, something I regretably never learned how to do, so in my book they're a hero to me. Hmmm, we have the makings of a jazz band. We have a trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, and a piano (and she's also learning other percussion instruments now in her first year of band).

Other than racing, of course living in Nebraska it is obligatory to be a Husker fan (and needle my buddy Tom Burgess during football season!) I really enjoy following college football, especially this past year's season. I also like to cook and am a big fan of a couple folks on Food Network (yeah, I watch it), Alton Brown, and Guy Fieri.
And I have been known to watch a little pro wrestling now and then....
Great idea for a thread, Justin. Thanks!

We watch some serious Food TV, Guy Fieri being one of my fav's also. Big fan of Bobby Flay and Tyler Florence as well, and you can't forget about Paula Deen!!!

And Terry, did we not discuss this 'pro wrestling' farce already??:D:D

See Alan, you gotta be careful about the pro wrestling thing!!! Suzie Q has my back on that one!!!! heck, next thing you'll be telling me is that Tony P really DID dive for John Force:D
