Another race, another round win for Shawn Gann. (1 Viewer)

[coverattach=1]The two-time Pro Stock Motorcycle finalist at Gateway International Raceway was able to advance to the quarterfinals in the O'Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals Presented by Castrol after Michael Phillips, his opponent in the first round, earned a red light foul. Gann started the day in the seventh position after a qualifying ET of 6.973 on Saturday. The Stoneville, N.C., native only had two rounds of qualifying over the course of the weekend with the first round rained out on Friday and an engine issue preventing him from making a pass in the second round of qualifying later that afternoon.

In the second round, Gann, whose RumBum/XTreme Rebellion Buell team picked up additional sponsorship over the weekend from Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop, faced defending NHRA Full Throttle Series PSM champ and most recent class winner Eddie Krawiec. Krawiec, who went on to win the event at Gateway, took the round win with an ET of 6.900 to Gann's 6.974.

"It's a rough deal," said the four-time PSM National event winner, "but you can't really hang your head when you lose to the guy who won the last race, is the champ, and went on to win this race. We wanted to be like Jimmy John's this weekend, because they've got sandwiches so fast you'll freak, but we're hitting our stride. We're going to get back to the Winner's Circle. You can believe that."

The NHRA Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycles will next see action June 4-7 in Joliet, Ill., for the United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals.
