Tony Pedregon's Pre-race Release (1 Viewer)

Houston, pre-race: Tony Pedregon and the K-LOVE Radio racing team heads to Houston this weekend for the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals. Pedregon will be one of 20 cars to try to earn their spot in the 16-car field.

Last race was the very unique Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte. The K-LOVE team car was 14th after day one of qualifying. However, when the sun came out, the K-LOVE machine got better. The first session was the quickest at a 4.203 e.t. at over 300 mph. That allowed Pedregon and the K-LOVE team to solidify their spot in the field, and after the final qualifying session they were 15th in a very fast field that sent the defending Funny Car champion Matt Hagan home.

Sunday was race day and Pedregon was matched up against three top 10 drivers. The car went away at about half-track giving the victory to John Force and Ron Capps, who later competed in the final round.

Houston has always been a good track for the Tony Pedregon. He has three victories at the track, most recently in 2003.

“We have been plagued these past few races with mechanical issues,” said two-time champion Pedregon. “With the addition of new personnel, the K-LOVE team looks to Houston to achieve the performance that we know is in the car.” Official Website Tony Pedregon 2 Time Funny Car World Champion
