techie question: oil retention devices (1 Viewer)

I've heard that there are new oil retention devices in use. What are they?
Better diapers, or a titanium "wrap" around the lower engine? I can see the
latter, preventing oil from leaking and to also prevent shrapnel from escaping
the lower engine area (preventing, say, tire blow outs).

Thanks in advance...

Tony Schumacher highlighted one at the Vegas race. It's basically a belly pan that fits under the engine, curved up on the edges to prevent oil from running out. A 'pad', for lack of a better word, about 18" square, is positioned in the center of the pan directly beneath the engine itself; it's designed to absorb any oil and reduce sloshing while the car is in motion.

Fairly low-tech, but it looks like it might work. They'll find out the first time Shoe kicks a rod, I suppose.
