officials say workers were cleaning/spraying with firehoses sat. night, then
called off for safey reasons.

video clearly shows water streaming in just prior to collapse - also aerial
images show large tear on north edge - IMO the hole in middle happened second
and caused by snow cascading during collapse finally ripping and falling
to floor of dome...........this is just a guess; with all that weight on the dome
pushing down on the fabric - the pressure on fabric may have been greatest
around rim of dome, and a section on west edge gave way allowing loss of
pressure, collapse of roof and subsequent second hole towards middle.

approx. 1/8 of a portion of home game revenue loss due to this....wow.

game at detroit tonite will be interesting - tons of free tickets and huge lines
for them starting last nite - will be a stampede, hope they have crownd
control in place.........won't be your 'normal' NFL ticket crowd

Those pictures are hilarious. At least they got to see one NFL team show up. Man the Vikings sure looked horrible.

lions will kick our $*s in 3 weeks at ford field - vikings laughable last nite

sun country airlines sold out 4 planes for last night's game - over and back
in same night, included transportation to ford field - what a waste of $250

read somewhere detroit folks in front of line were getting their free tickets,
then hustling to back of line trying to sell them; capitalism at it's finest :)

Yeah 9-4 is mediocre. What are your Vikes at? :p

did i say that sam? i said the giants last nite were mediocre against a
pathetic vikings team........our record is less than the giants and we will
100% miss the playoffs - this has absolutely nothing to do with my statement
calling the giants 'mediocre' which i still hold to be true

Time to jump the Vikings ship and get back to the Steelers. Too bad, I liked watching a good local team every week for awhile there.

They say T Jack has turf toe and can't play next week. Bummer...

......They say T Jack has turf toe and can't play next week. Bummer...

he'll play - it'll be -10 below outside @ TCF stadium,
he won't feel a thing

heard last nite dome unfixable in time for monday game; more damage found
than had thought.

nick - you can't like the vikings AND the steelers - pick one, can't do both. viking's fans hate pittsburgh.

.......will be worth the cold to see the 50th anniv.
celebration - heard on kfan tarkington wasn't going to show until grant
personally called him.....can't say no then ;)

I wonder if Grant will let the guys wear a jacket when they're out on the field? :D

not a chance - no gloves either.............tcf apparently paying by the hour
to shovel the next few days - volunteers, just show up (online startribune)
would almost be worth it - a unique game in vikings history to be sure;
almost scripted that the big anniversary with the purple legends who played
at the hallowed frozen met will return 21 years later to a frozen celebration

TCF not a sure thing. There are questions to be answered before the NFL allows the game to be played there, including whether the U's regents will allow beer sales, whether the local residents will approve a weekday game, what to do with 15,000 extra ticket holders, will there be tailgating allowed in the parking lots, and will the NFL players raise objections to the playing conditions.

game on - nfl and U final approval by both around 4pm today.

there will be so much booze smuggled in snowmobile suits there will be
no need for beer sales.........just like in the olden days, eh!

I know one guy who sewed a bunch of little pockets to the inside of his "game day" outfit, in such a way as you couldn't see the thread from the outside, and then stuff those pockets with airline type single shot bottles of booze.

Then, he just buys himself a soda, stops at the restroom and dumps a couple of them into the drink.

I was at the Lions/Packers game. They announced that the ticket was good for the next night so I went to the Vikes/Giants game too.

It was odd walking in and seeing the Endzones and midfield in Vikings colors/logo. Vikings gear being sold in the stores, I assume it was their normal announcer as it wasn't ours and that damn horn blowing all the time. Music during lions games is either hip hop or motown. During the vikes game it was more country and rock. It was very cool though.

Nice thing was my Sunday ticket I also got for free. 2 NFL games, back to back days for free.

I have to admit Vikes fans were hard core. I was surprised how many made the last minute snowy drive. The Vikes were well represented.

Sun Country Airlines (a local airline) sent four 737's full of die hard fans to Detroit. That would have been a fun trip.... no worries about luggage or hotel rooms. Fly out, watch the game, fly home for $250 bucks. It also included transportation to and from the airport/stadium. To bad the Vikings didn't show up to play. Oh well, that's how the entire year has been so why would the Detroit game be any different? :(

Edit: Mike already mentioned the 4 airplanes full of fans on page one of the thread. Sorry for telling the same story again.
