Legends of Nitro Announces 260/265 Mile Per Hour Club
(Santa Fe Springs, CA – February 20, 2013) -- Kevin Stith of Stith Printing and Legends of Nitro announced today that his company is starting two clubs for fast nostalgia drag racing cars; the 260 Mile Per Hour Club for Funny Cars and a 265 Mile Per Hour Club for Top Fuel with the first eight drivers attaining that speed mark being welcomed into each club.
“With the possibility that the sanctioning body may soon make changes to Heritage-style racing we thought this would be the best time to acknowledge the fastest racecars and drivers in the country,” said Company President Kevin Stith. "Forming both of these performance clubs is our way of giving back to these top running teams and drivers."
As long as drivers are racing under NHRA Heritage Series Rules, any driver meeting the criterion may be welcomed into each eight-member club, we have included Drag Racing Online AA/FC Challenge competitors to be eligible for the club, since those nitro funny cars race under the same rules.
In March of 2012, two-time NHRA Heritage Series Champion Jason Rupert broke the 260 mph funny car mark with his 5.668/262.03 charge at the 54th March Meet at Auto Club Famoso Raceway. Rupert is the first member of the nitro funny car club. Utah’s Jack “the Sherriff” Harris holds the honor of the fastest run ever - 265.09 at the California Hot Rod Reunion in his “Nitro Thunder” top fueler, also at Auto Club Famoso Raceway.
Both Jason Rupert and Jack Harris will receive their distinctive club jackets at a special pre-race induction ceremony on Sunday of the upcoming 55th March Meet on March 10, 2013.
