Iowa’s Cedar Falls Raceway Joins Nhra Member Track Family (1 Viewer)

IOWA’S CEDAR FALLS RACEWAY JOINS NHRA MEMBER TRACK FAMILY

GLENDORA, Calif. (February 27, 2007) – NHRA has announced that Cedar Falls (Iowa) Raceway will join the NHRA Member Track network. The quarter-mile facility is being operated by Scott Gardner who also owns Cordova (Ill.) Dragway Park and is a partner in Eddyville (Iowa) Raceway Park. General Manager Dan Driscoll will oversee day-to-day operations at the track.

“We look forward to offering the Cedar Falls racers programs that have been successful at our other tracks as well some new programs that the NHRA will afford us such as the National Dragster Challenge, King of the Track and O’Reilly Auto Parts Junior Drag Racing League Challenge,” said Gardner.

Cedar Falls Raceway will participate in NHRA’s Summit Racing Series, where drivers will compete to represent the track at the NHRA West Central Division Summit Finals in Topeka, Kan., in September. The division champions will be eligible to compete for a national championship against the winners from NHRA’s other six divisions. The national championship race will take place in November during the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif.

Junior Dragster will also continue to run at the facility, giving participants the opportunity to represent Cedar Falls Raceway at the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Junior Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals in Denver in July.

“We could not be more pleased that the Gardners have chosen to bring Cedar Falls Raceway into the NHRA fold,” said NHRA West Central division director Rob Park. “They, and their management team, are wonderful people who have three great facilities, each of which is an asset to the division.”

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 23 national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The NHRA has more than 80,000 members and 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series’ provide competition opportunities for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series, NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series and the NHRA Street Legal Program presented by AAA. The NHRA also offers the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
