NHRA WEST CENTRAL DIVISION ADDS TWO MORE TRACKS TO ITS ROSTER

GLENDORA, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2006) – NHRA announced today that two more drag strips have joined its member track network. Cordova (Ill.) Dragway Park and Eddyville (Iowa) Raceway Park will run under the NHRA flag beginning in the 2007 racing season.

Cordova Dragway Park is located approximately 20 miles northeast of Davenport, Iowa, and is a quarter-mile facility. The eighth-mile Eddyville Raceway Park is located approximately 55 miles southeast of Des Moines, Iowa. Scott Gardner is the president and general manager of Cordova Dragway Park and his wife Laura is the vice president and operations manager for the facility. Gardner is vice president of Eddyville Raceway Park, working with his partners, president Jerry Anglese, and general manager Gerald Kramer.

“We are pleased to welcome these two distinguished facilities to the NHRA family,” said NHRA West Central division director Rob Park . “I look forward to working with each track to bring NHRA programs to their racers and fans.”

Both tracks will participate in the NHRA Summit Racing Series, which allows the division champions to compete against the winners from NHRA’s other six divisions for a national title and a share of the $118,000 purse, as well as in the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League. Additionally, Cordova Dragway will host an NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event in the first week of August.

“I believe this is a great prospect for both our tracks and our racers,” said Gardner. “I’m eager to work with Rob Park and the NHRA to bring new and expanded racing opportunities to our customers.”

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 23 national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The NHRA has more than 80,000 members and 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series’ provide competition opportunities for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series, NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series and the NHRA Street Legal Program presented by AAA. The NHRA also offers the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
