<P> MOHNTON, Pa. (Aug. 16, 2008) – Chris King, 42, of Bath, Pa., was selected as the 17th NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member of the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series season today at the 24th annual NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, outside of Reading, Pa.

Ryan Wentz, sales manager for Quaker City Motor Parts Company, based in Middletown, Del., said King's selection was an obvious one. "We decided to pick Chris King and his wife Wendy, who have been NAPA store owners for over 15 years, based on the misfortune they've experienced over the last several years," explained Wentz. "They've gone through three floods and one fire and have endured a lot of things that would make most people quit. After the floods he moved his store from his original location in Riegelsville, Pa., to Ottsville, Pa. His NAPA store was located in a strip mall there and 18 months after he relocated a fire started in another building and spread to his and it was gone in minutes. Amazingly, he was up and running again at a new building nearby within three weeks. When this opportunity came up, our whole company agreed that he was the guy we needed to make feel special today."

Quaker City Motor Parts Company has six NAPA distribution centers that service approximately 260 NAPA AUTO PARTS stores and 600 NAPA AUTO CARE CENTERS in six states including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia. They are one of the founding members of the NAPA AUTO PARTS family, which was formed in 1925.

"I've been into drag racing pretty much my whole life," said King, who supports a number of local circle track and drag racers in the surrounding community. "We come to the drag races quite often, but I've never experienced something like this. This has been unbelievable. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance. I was floored when I found out that I was selected as honorary crew member. I knew I was coming to the race and getting into the NAPA hospitality area, but to be honorary crew member was unbelievable. It was very exciting and I never thought I'd get such an opportunity."

As part of the honor, King escorted the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car to the staging lanes in the team's Dodge Durango tow vehicle for the first round of qualifying on Saturday and also helped retrieve the car at the end of the track following driver Ron Capps' run. King had an up-close-and-personal view of the NAPA crew as the team worked on the car and enjoyed a private tour of the team transporter and pit area. King also met the entire NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car crew and received a NAPA team jersey. He also enjoyed the amenities of the NAPA hospitality area throughout the day.

NAPA AUTO PARTS distribution centers at each NHRA event during the season have different criteria for choosing the persons who are potential NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Members.
