Unfortunately I think we will see a lot more of that until this is over. It’s going to be really hard on drag racing.

I am sorry but I have to laugh at the shelter in place order from the Gila River tribal council yet they just re-opened the doors to the casino again just last week. I can only speak from the casino side of operations but nearly everything that was done by them since they re-opened the first time in the middle of May has been lacking especially compared to how other casinos and tribal governments in the area have handled things. While I have not been back to work since all this went down in March because my department was furloughed I have heard from others saying that safety protocols have either not been followed or abandoned quickly after re-opening. There was a concern that only bi-monthly testing has been provided by the tribe even if someone came into contact with a person who was diagnosed with COVID-19. Even after a death of a security guard at our sister property nothing was done or even acknowledged until the story went to the media and only then were they closed for another two weeks. We are still open 24 hours even with the other casinos in the valley being closed for cleaning for at least 8 hours a night, there is still smoking in the building even though the others have temporarily banned it and as far as I know masks were still optional.

$$$$$$ Casinos make way more $ than anything else the tribe runs, including motorsports. I have been in the spectator stands at Wild Horse & can watch a steady stream of cars going to the casinos.

Oh trust me I know that. and I know where the track ranks in the eyes of the Gila River tribal leaders. When I went through orientation for my job two years ago a higher up in the tribal council talked to us about all of the different businesses and attractions the Gila River community offered and not one mention was made about the track even though I would guess that was one of the the first and largest money makers for the tribe until the casino were built in the mid 90's
