LAS VEGAS, November 1, 2008 -- With three more solid qualifying runs in the data book of crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald, Melanie Troxel goes into Sunday's ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway hoping to hit the proverbial jackpot and leave Las Vegas with her second NHRA Funny Car title.

Troxel's thousand-foot elapsed times of 4.082 -- her quickest -- and 4.085 seconds put her in the top half of the 16-car line-up throughout qualifying. She races Gary Scelzi (10th, 4.093 seconds) in the first round.

"We feel really good with the way car is running," Troxel said. "We know the weather is going to be even cooler Sunday
so there's no reason to expect that we won't run as good, if not better."

Corradi and Oswald attempted to run quicker in the last session but the car smoked the tires and slowed to 7.287 seconds.

"Maybe it was good that we didn't get down the track on the last run," added Troxel. "We've had races where we've had four good qualifying runs and then we weren't able to get down the track on Sunday. Maybe we got that out of the way on Saturday and we'll have four good runs instead."
