TOLIVER QUALIFIES ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK FUNNY CAR 15TH IN ATLANTA

COMMERCE, Ga. (April 26, 2008) – Ask any racer about qualifying for an NHRA national event and he or she will tell you that you have to be in it to win it. That's exactly the attitude that Rockstar Energy Drink Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car driver Jerry Toliver had after qualifying 15th for the NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway, the sixth stop on the 24-race 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag racing Series tour.

He posted his best run of 4.911 seconds at 311.70 mph in the Friday night session.

Toliver began the weekend with a tire-smoking run of 7.524/109.65 to end the first round in No. 15. His Friday night quick attempt was good for the No. 11 position at the time, and his other tries produced a 5.035/299.86 in the third round (No. 13) and finally a 4.982/303.16 to qualify No. 15 for Sunday's eliminations.

"On the first lap Friday we spun the tires," said Toliver. "On the second lap we got down there and ran a 4.91 and it was nice. But today in the heat we struggled. We ran a 5.03 and a 4.98. We've just got to get this Rockstar Energy Drink Funny Car moving faster quicker.

"Like I always say, you got to be in to win. We're in the No. 15 spot and we'd rather be in the top half of the field, but we'll see what it brings us tomorrow. I don't know what the race track is going to be like. They're predicting rain, but they predicted rain today and it was hot all day. I think we'll be fine.

"These guys are working hard. This Rockstar crew is dedicated and we've got a good group of guys here. I'm just glad Rockstar Energy Drink is standing behind us. We're going to be fine. We just have to get over that hump and get a little racing luck and we'll be good. First round tomorrow, who knows what is going to happen. I've won from the 15th spot, so if you're in you can win."

Toliver's first round opponent on Sunday will be Cruz Pedregon.
