Stawicki Racing Pleased with Gainesville Results

Mike Stawicki Racing from Medina, New York was pleased with their performance at the 38th annual AC Delco Gatornationals. The team, which improved on every run down the famed Gainesville race track, were building from a year of frustration after switching over to the Hemi power plant. Not until the last race of 2006, did the team truly show what they were capable of. That came in qualifying for the World Finals at Rockingham Dragway with a 6.09 at an early shut off 210 mph.

Crew chief Jim Salemi (owner of G-Force Race Cars) stated, “That one run made the off season much easier to get through. We knew we had a car that could run the number, but saying it and doing it are two different things. We were very excited to get to Gainesville and get some more runs under our belt”. The team did just that and improved every time the car went down the track. The flamed G-Force Race Cars built, DMPE inc. 67 Camaro qualified in the 9th spot for the extremely quick AMS Pro Mod field, with a 6.06 @ 236MPH. That set up a first round battle with Steve Engel’s 63 Corvette. Engel obtained a slight starting line advantage and posted a 6.00 @ 239 MPH to Stawicki’s losing 6.03 @ 237 MPH. A disappointed but upbeat Stawicki said, “I’m very happy with our improvement. Today we just got outrun by a little.

That will only make our team work harder. It sucks when you run your career best and get beat, but that’s racing. We will be ready for Houston”.

Stawicki Racing would like to thank the following companies and people for their continued support: Darren Mayer & DMPE Inc, Stawicki Used Cars, Isolation Systems, Strange Engineering, Weld Racing, NGK Spark Plugs, Mastin Engineering, Hot Rods by Burke, Cynergy Composites, Scott Jahren Paint, Dan the Sign Man, Vici Promotions, and 1320 Web Services.
