Stanfield 6th, Tony Pedregon 12th after first day of 4-Wide Nationals (1 Viewer)

Greg Stanfield’s first qualifying run of 6.582 seconds at 210.37 mph Friday in the Nitro Fish Pontiac GXP was fifth-quickest as the second annual Visitmyrtlebeach.com NHRA 4-Wide Nationals got underway at zMAX Dragway.

Stanfield, who advanced to the final round at last year’s inaugural event, also added a solid quarter-mile lap of 6.599 seconds at 209.30 mph.

Tony Pedregon, driving the WIX Filters Funny Car, was 12th going into Saturday’s final two qualifying attempts. Pedregon’s best 1,000-foot lap was 4.211 at 300.20 mph. He also added a run of 4.216 at 288.39.
