Nitrofish Buell rider, Matt Smith is still in the No. 1 position with just four races remaining in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle season. Smith leads the field by 36 points over Indy Champ – Steve Johnson and he hopes to stretch that lead this weekend in Dallas, Texas.

Since he debuted his in-house built chassis four races ago, Smith has qualified No. 1 all four times. He has won twice in the past four races, and if not for the motor breaking at the last event, Smith may have won again.

The reigning POWERade Champion is red-hot and he has his sights set on staying in the lead as he looks to keep the No. 1 on the side of his bike for yet another year.

“I am more than ready for Dallas,” said Smith. “Last weekend was okay. I am bummed about the motor going away and not being able to capitalize in Charlotte, but I am psyched about getting back to racing so quickly. We have Dallas and Memphis back-to-back, and with the points’ battle being so close right now, it’s still anybody’s game. I just hope we can keep running like we have been and all the pieces should fall into place, hopefully with us on top.”

Smith rebuilt his motor over the last week and is ready to get after it at the Texas based track with action getting underway in the Pro category Friday afternoon.
