American Dragster, The Complete Second Season DVD Set Available on DVD, September 15, 2008
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (Sept 4, 2008) -- The Second Season compilation DVD set of the popular ESPN TV series American Dragster will be released September 15th. Discounted pre-orders are available now on the AmericanDragster.tv website.
American Dragster, the popular drag racing behind the scenes reality show aired ten episodes in 2007 featuring driver and teams participating on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. All the episodes that aired on ESPN are now available on DVD along with never before seen footage, and photos as part of the special feature contents.
The 3-disc DVD set takes viewers behind the scenes of three pro drag racing categories with four entertaining drivers. Four-time NHRA POWERade Champion, Tony Schumacher and the US Army Top Fuel Dragster Team, Ron Capps and the BRUT Revolution Fuel Funny Car Team are back from the first season. Max Naylor and the Jagermeister Pro Stock Team and Erica Enders and the Race Girl/Revive Pro Stock team join Schumacher and Capps for the second season.
In addition to the racing and behind the scenes action, season two includes segments devoted to exploring details of some of the more technical aspects of the sport.
"We added new segments to the show as the season progressed," said Ryan Johnson, director/executive producer. "For example, UTI (Universal Technical Institute) sponsored a technical discussion of some of the components that make up the race car and will compare them to their everyday vehicle counterparts."
“There's no script. The drivers, their crew, friends and families tell the stories. We're just giving them a new voice." added Johnson. "We worked hard to remain true to the sport of NHRA drag racing, and I think that we captured it very effectively.”
Tony Schumacher, the four-time NHRA Top Fuel champion, is a fan of the show. "Having been involved with American Dragster in its infancy, I can tell you that the show truly offers a rare inside look at the sport," he said. "Viewers can really get a feel for the personalities involved with the teams that are being featured. They can relate to the emotions the drivers and crew guys experience throughout the season, be they highs or lows."
Added Ron Capps, “The feedback is that people love it because there's so much non-stop footage taken on the track and in the pits, so it's very authentic and realistic. People often wonder what goes on behind the ropes in the pit area, and there's nothing else that's been documented like American Dragster where you see exactly what goes on in our pit areas and even in the crew chief's lounges. We let the cameras roam around, so you get to see some incredible footage."

Erica Enders also enjoyed the experience "It has been really exciting working with American Dragster," she said. "It has been interesting to have someone follow me around and document on camera all of the things that happen during a race. I think it gives the viewer a unique opportunity to have an inside look at what it is like being on tour that they would otherwise never know. The viewer can experience the stresses that are involved, how busy we actually are and the million directions we are constantly being pulled in. They can see what it is like to find sponsors, interact with fans and set up hospitality for existing sponsors. I am very happy to be a part of American Dragster."
The DVD is available for discounted pre-order sales until the DVD begins shipping September 15, at which time the Retail Price will be $34.95. The DVD can be ordered from - American Dragster -. The DVD will be made available at selected retail stores in early 2008.
