RIP an Aussie legend (1 Viewer)

Today Australia lost a legend of drag racing in Mick Atholwood to cancer. I remember Mick running a fuel funny way back and his long time association with Roy Smith in their Sainty powered fuel dragster with Mick calling the shots and Roy driving. In 2000 they won the Nationals, i was doing the clutch of the other car in that final and although we missed out the win looking back the joy it gave him is one of my most treasured memories, the joy it gave him made up for the runner up.

Had many a conversation with him about the sport he loved and he always had time for both fellow racers and the fans. I even slept in his trailer at the winters one year.

Another drag racer taken too soon.

I bet he and grumpy are at the pearly gates bench racing right now.

Maybe Paul Rogers or some of the other Aussies on here could tell more about his career as I am sure most of you would love to hear them.

RIP
