READING, Pa. (Aug. 12, 2008) – Ransome Cat has partnered with David Powers Motorsports and seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Hot Rod Fuller for the 24th annual Toyo Tires Nationals, Aug. 14-17, at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, Pa. Fuller’s Caterpillar® dragster will fly the Ransome dealer lockup logo during the Reading NHRA race.

The relationship between David Powers Motorsports, Caterpillar Inc. and the Caterpillar dealers was designed as a pilot program to increase technician recruiting. Many Caterpillar dealers are experiencing a shortage of technicians. After successful events in several NHRA markets during the 2007 season, DPM and Caterpillar inked a multiyear agreement last August to participate in the NHRA dealer recruitment program. Ransome Cat is a full-line Caterpillar dealer serving southeastern Pennsylvania , southern New Jersey and northern Delaware . Ransome operates 13 locations and employs more than 600 people.

“Ransome is one of our favorite Caterpillar dealers,” Fuller said. “They really got the ball rolling with the relationship with Caterpillar. We appreciate all the great support from the Ransome folks. We’re excited to again start the car at Ransome’s headquarters before the race and we want to put on another solid performance with the Ransome logo on our Caterpillar dragster. We did pretty well last year and we want to have some momentum going into the U.S. Nationals.”

Ransome Cat will have a display on the popular Manufacturer’s Midway at Maple Grove Raceway. Ransome employees will be on-site to answer questions about Caterpillar products, services, and to speak to people interested in a career as a Caterpillar dealer technician.

"The Ransome CAT family and I are thrilled to, once again, sponsor Hot Rod Fuller and David Powers Motorsports at the NHRA event at Maple Grove Raceway” Kristin Bromley said. “Our employees and customers are looking forward to this event and to have the opportunity to meet Hot Rod Fuller and his team, both at the race and during our employee appreciation day. Hot Rod Fuller performed extremely well during the 2007 NHRA season and we are proud to partner with him again this year."

Fuller currently ranks fifth in the NHRA Top Fuel standings following 16 of 24 races on the 2008 NHRA racing schedule. The Las Vegas racer earned his seventh career Top Fuel win by powering the Caterpillar dragster to the title of the St. Louis race in early May. Fuller also has seven career Top Fuel poles, including the Norwalk , Ohio race in late June. ESPN2 will feature two hours of qualifying highlights from the Toyo Tires Nationals at 6 p.m. (ET) on Aug. 16, and three hours of final eliminations coverage of the Reading , Pa. NHRA race at 10 p.m. (ET) on Aug. 17.

Headquartered in Houston with race operations located in Brownsburg , Ind. , David Powers Motorsports fields the two-car Top Fuel operation of drivers Rod Fuller and Antron Brown. DPM proudly represents racing partners Matco Tools, Caterpillar, Forward Sports Marketing, Valvoline, Toyota , Ringer’s Gloves, Go Fast Sports, Goodyear, FRAM, and Autolite.
