“We’ve got three teams who can take this year’s title at Lancaster ,” said PMRA Director of Operations Bruce Mehlenbacher. “And we also have last year’s Lancaster winner Bruce Boland, who could really upset the proceedings.”

Joe Boniferro climbed into top spot in the standings with his PMRA win at the Grand Bend Motorplex and is tied with Kasey Jansen for this final race of 2006.

Both Boniferro, of Niagara Falls , ON , and Jansen, of St. Catharines , have amassed 1440 points, while 2005 PMRA champion Joe Lilienthal of Kenmore , NY , is right behind with 1430 points.

The Chevy Beretta of Sonny and Jack Grainy of North Tonawanda , NY , are next in order with 1320 points, and they are tied with the Rude Stude Racing team of Mark Mitchell of East Otto, NY.

Defending Lancaster champ Bruce Boland of Hamilton , Ontario , will also be on hand trying to make it two in a row at the Buffalo-area track.

Qualifying for the PMRA teams gets underway at 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. on the Buffalo-area eighth-mile strip, with final eliminations scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. for the quickest four cars.

The PMRA and its member teams traveled to several new drag strips in 2006, including Sanair in Quebec, and the western Ontario tracks of St. Thomas Dragway and the Grand Bend Motorplex. The tour was a great success for the series, which enjoyed strong fan popularity. Negotiations will soon be underway to return to these tracks, along with Toronto Motorsports Park and Lancaster Raceway Park and several other venues to present some of the best in Pro Modified racing for 2007.

About the Pro Modified Racing Association

The Pro Modified Racing Association, www.ProModifiedRacing.com, started late in 2004 and entering its second year of operation, the Pro Modified Racing Association ran five events in 2005 at four Ontario , Quebec , and New York locations. The PMRA provides drag race fans the opportunity see, hear and to experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's fastest door slammers".

The PMRA is a self-governing organization with its own set of technical and safety rules based on the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Pro Modified division. Cars in the PMRA capture the true spirit of hot rodding, and the class is one of drag racing’s most exciting and volatile classes, capturing the true spirit of hot rodding and offering a wildly diverse group of racecars with different types of 2,000-horsepower engines. Combining classic body styles and modern equipment, constructors are permitted to extensively modify and enhance both appearance and performance. The cars burn gasoline or methanol, propelling them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 225 miles per hour. The PMRA Pro Modified field is composed of the eight quickest teams from the qualifying rounds.
