P&R Racing Martin Preview

The Pro Mod team of Raymond Commisso and Paulo Dalimonte from Toronto, Ontario are happy to be back on track and taking positive steps to move towards a strong second half of the season. The Steelback Beer and Torco Race Fuels sponsored 67 Camaro debuted at the Suzuki Motor City Nationals in mid June. The only thing that kept the team from qualifying for the field was a transmission that would not shift into 3 rd gear. A 4.04 half track proved the team was on its way to a proper tune up and a competitively running car.

After the IHRA Canadian Nationals, which was postponed due to rain, some teams stayed over for a test session. The P&R Racing team was one of the cars that stayed for an opportunity to put more laps on the new car. On it's fourth run, the car blistered the T.M.P track with a 3.99 186 half-track, then Commisso was forced to lift as the car got a little loose on the big end. The subsequent result was a 6.20 @ 190 MPH. This run was the team’s best effort by over a tenth of a second. Commisso states, “It’s been a long time coming. It felt good to get a decent run under our belts. It’s a real confidence builder. I have to thank Frank from Steelback Beer and Evan and Brian from Torco Racing Fuels. They are a tremendous help for this entire P&R team. To do this without their help, would be impossible”.

The team heads into the Martin, Michigan Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals race this weekend as a silent weapon. Crew Chief Paulo Dalimonte says, “ If all goes well, I think we have a great shot to do well here at Martin. Al Billes Racing has provided us with the power we need and Jim Salemi from G-Force Race Cars has built a chassis that can utilize the horsepower properly. I’m excited, but just trying to stay calm and collected. It’s not an easy game out here. You have to focus to do well and that is what the main goal of the weekend will be”.

The P&R Racing team would like to thank all of its supporters and sponsors. They include: Steelback Brewery (steelbackbrewery.com), Torco Race Fuels, Matrix Refit, Vinvino Wine Supply, Dimmi Bar and Trattoria, G-Force Race Cars, Al Billes Racing, D.M.P.E Inc., Scott Jahren Paint and Vici Promotions.
