Madison Qualifies Second at Season Opening NHRA Regional Event (1 Viewer)

Phoenix - Towards the end of the 2023 season, some great news came down to both racers and fans alike that the Phoenix facility targeted for demolition would be saved and re-branded back to its former name Firebird Raceway. This past weekend the track reopened for the first NHRA Lucas Oil Regional event on the West Coast for the 2024 season.

Madison and the Muscle Milk team showed no signs of rust by qualifying second for the eight-car field with a very competitive 5.24 at 275 MPH.

Madison faced Southern California firefighter Johnny Ahten in the first round of eliminations. At the hit, it was Ahten out first with a .055 to Madison's close .064. Unfortunately, as soon as the car launched, Madison's car overpowered the race surface and lost traction. Meanwhile, Ahten was on a solid run and took the win light with a 5.32 at 270 MPH.

Next, the team moves on to Pomona, CA for the NHRA Winternationals, March 21-24. Madison and team owner Duane Shields welcome back Muscle Milk, GRP Connecting Rods, NGK Spark Plugs, Brad Anderson Enterprises, and Clean Boost for the 2024 season.
