Hernandez leads Quickest-Ever AMS Pro Mod Field in Atlanta

COMEMRCE, Ga. (April 28) - Josh Hernandez leads the pack in the quickest-ever field of the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Modified Challenge presented by Tindle Enterprises with a blistering 5.974/241.28. Quain Stott caps the field at No. 16 with a 6.164/236.22.

Hernandez said, "I really never expected to see such great conditions here, but the numbers really show that the track is in great shape, and the weather has really worked to our advantage."

Hernandez' AMS/Rage teammate, Troy Critchley, holds the No. 5 spot on the strength of his 6.030/240.08 pass.

The homecoming was sweet for Voodoo Racing's Doug Palmer, grabbing the No. 2 spot with his personal best-5.996/238.64. After an extended break from AMS competition, Palmer debuted this weekend with a new owner/sponsor and a renewed attitude. His benefactor, Roger Burgess, is owner of R2B2 Motors which builds, restores, customizes and sells hot rods worldwide.

World Champion Jay Payne had a stellar run of 6.007/238.17 to take the No. 4 spot, but took a trip into the sand-pit when his parachutes failed to deploy. Payne's Valvoline/BAE crew worked diligently and repaired the car for the final round of qualifying.
