Grainy Brothers return to PMRA racing for upcoming season (1 Viewer)

Team ready to run with new engine in G-Force Race Cars Camaro Pro Modified

NORTH TONAWANDA, NEW YORK (March 9, 2011) – After sitting out for a season, the Grainy Brothers are returning to the Pro Modified Racing Association drag racing series.

The Western New York team will be back with the familiar two-tone 1967 Camaro Pro Modified, but the G-Force Race Cars product will feature a new powerplant.

According to driver Jack Grainy, the team will be running a new 526-cubic inch Brad Anderson engine set up by Mike Janis. Fellow New Yorker and reigning PMRA champion Mike Stawicki will be on hand assisting the team with the new engine, which will feature a new PSI screw-type Supercharger. A Lenco three-speed transmission will sit behind the new engine.

Grainy said his team had to step up to keep pace with the competition.

“We had to do something to keep up with the others,” he noted. “There are some very strong cars in the PMRA, and we’re back in this to race.”

The Grainy Brothers Racing Team has long been a contender in the powerful doorslammer classes through the years, and for 2011 has acquired new sponsorship from Wolfs Den Products of New York, along with Niagara Auto and Grainy’s Automotive, who are back on board for the upcoming season.

Jack’s brother Sonny will continue as crew chief with the Camaro, and Aggy Mudra and Jack Grainy Jr will be on hand as team members.

The Grainys have been with the PMRA since its inception in 2004, and placed second in the Championship Point Award Series in the 2005 season. Jack said the team plans to compete in the entire series this year, and added he is impressed how the series has grown.

“We’re planning on running the whole series,” he said. “The PMRA now has a life of its own. It has gotten big. Look at all the names and cars in the series, and the times and speeds are some of the best in Pro Modified racing.”

About the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA):
The Pro Modified Racing Association, PMRA ~ Pro Modified Racing Association, was organized late in 2004, and the first race event was held in May of 2005. In 2011, the PMRA will provide the best in Pro Modified racing for its seventh consecutive season.

In 2011 the Pro Modified Racing Association will compete at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario and the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.

Since its inception, the PMRA has grown in stature and popularity, and is one of the top Pro Modified series in North America, holding premier events throughout the race season to the delight of a solid race fan following.

The PMRA is a self-governing organization with input from its teams, and adheres to the technical and safety rules as outlined by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).

Cars in the PMRA are the ultimate hot rods. Pro Modified cars are one of drag racing’s most exciting and colorful classes, offering a diverse group of race cars with 2,500-horsepower-plus engines in supercharged, nitrous-powered, or turbocharged format.

With appealing and colorful classic body styles sitting on top of the most modern mechanical and safety equipment, constructors are permitted, within established rules and parameters, to modify and enhance the cars in both appearance and performance. The cars are fuelled by gasoline or methanol, propelling them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 240 miles per hour, and several PMRA competitors have made the trip down the quarter mile in less than six seconds. The PMRA provides drag race fans the opportunity to see, hear, and experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's fastest door slammers".

The PMRA events are run in conjunction with the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS), Pro Bike & Sled Series, offering fans a great show of drag racing.
