Norwalk, Ohio – After two rounds of qualifying in the NHRA Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycle class Friday at Summit Motorsports Park, four-time Nationals event winner Shawn Gann is locked into the field for Sunday’s Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals with a ninth-place effort. Gann and his XTreme Rebellion/RumBum Buell ran a 7.162 at 184.72 mph in the first round and were able to improve his ET in Q2 with a 7.113 and a speed of 187.13 mph.

For Gann, qualifying in 2009 hasn’t been a problem. The North Carolina native has seen consistent times and speeds. On Sundays, his lights have also been a point of pride. But after back-to-back first-round exits at Joliet and Englishtown, Gann hopes to see his Friday/Saturday consistency carry over to where it counts: the elimination rounds.

“It’s a weird deal,” Gann said. “You put our qualifying rounds together with our lights on Sunday and we’re winning rounds getting this XTreme Rebellion/RumBum Buell closer to the Winner’s Circle. But for some reason, we keep losing speed on Sundays.

“It’s been a rough couple of weeks, but we’re keeping positive. We’ve got a good bike, we’ve got a good crew, and it’s just a matter of time before we start winning.”

Gann and the rest of the NHRA Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycle class are scheduled to start their second day of qualifying Saturday at 12:10 p.m. with the second round starting at 2:05 p.m. Sunday’s eliminations begin at 11 a.m.
