0-FOR-2 RATCHETS WORSHAM'S STRESS LEVEL TO HISTORIC LEVELS

(9/3/06) Indianapolis --Del Worsham , who lost a great run to parts breakage on Friday night, lost two runs to tire smoke here in Indy on Saturday, leaving him outside the field with two runs left on Sunday. With the bump spot already in record territory (Jim Head now sits 16th with a 4.801 going into Sunday, setting the all-time low bump spot in Funny Car history) Worsham knows he has a huge mountain to climb on his final two laps.

"We have ourselves in an enormous hole right now, and I'm at all sure why," Worsham said. "The car ran exactly like it was supposed to last night, but we broke the pulley right off the blower and lost the run. The afternoon run today, maybe there wasn't as much track out there as we thought, or something, because we got out there around 300-feet and just blew the tires off. Tonight, the conditions were every bit as good as last night, if not better, and we basically put the same set-up in the car as the Friday run, figuring all it had to do was keep going and not break anything and we'd be more than fine.

"Instead, it went right out there to 300-feet again, and spun the tires. I pedaled the car, probably out of anger more than anything else, and it hooked up, but then it drifted to the center line on me and I had the sense to lift. Maybe we have something wrong in there, that we just have to find, or maybe we've just lost our minds. This is really disheartening, I know that much. We've never had this much power, or potentially this fast of a car. Potential is great, but we have to find a way to harness this thing and get it down there."
