SHORTENED DAY LEAVES WORSHAM 15th

When only one of two scheduled qualifying sessions could be completed at drizzly Maple Grove Raceway on Saturday, and Del Worsham shook the tires hard in that session, the red Checker, Schuck's, Kragen Monte Carlo was in the race field, but left sitting in the 15th spot.

Worsham will race Mike Ashley in round one.

"I really would have liked to get that last run in, too, because we had another mechanical issue on the one pass today and it sapped all the energy out of the car," Worsham said. "As soon as it shook, I knew something was wrong with the car, because it just didn't have any pop off the starting line. We got back here and found the problem, and had we had the chance to go back out there for the fourth session, I'm sure we could have stepped way up. But, we had a mechanical gremlin on Friday, and another one today, so we're our own worst enemies right now.

"The trick now is to fix our problems, and then get out there tomorrow and do the stepping up we didn't get to do today. If we just run like we know how to run, we'll have a chance to do some good tomorrow, but if we don't we'll have no one but ourselves to blame for it."
