<P> (10-8-2008) LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. – For Danny Rowe, driver of the popular Hottinger Group ’67 Camaro, being in a high-pressure situation is almost second nature. As a successful businessman and active entrepreneur, Rowe knows the sensation of a now-or-never situation better than most, and fortunately, it’s something that he’s said is his ultimate motivator.

“We appreciate the situation we’re in,” said Rowe, in reference to his No. 4 position in the JEGS ProMod Challenge points standings with only two races left on the schedule. “Fortunately for us, these high pressure situations are second nature for this team and, personally, we’re going to treat this weekend in Richmond like every other drag race this year – one we want to win.”

Rowe, as usual, is animated and excited in regards to the newly formed two-car team’s success in 2008, but would like nothing more than to cap the season off with a solid qualifying effort and, possibly, a win at the 3rd annual NHRA Virginia Nationals – in that order.

“We treat our race program like a business, and I couldn’t be much happier with what we’ve accomplished in 2008,” said Rowe. “Going into the final few races of the season, though, I know the possibilities and more than that – I know the capabilities of this race program. We’ve come into every race this season with a one-step-at-a-time mentality and we’ll continue with that mentality this weekend, but I truly feel that our consistency is bound to pay off and it’s generally in these latter rounds that consistency shines through.”

Both a blessing and a curse, the never-quite-enough mindset of a businessman makes Rowe’s quest for a championship just one of his many goals for the new multi-car Pro Modified race team, but the obvious focus during the intense October month is earning the JEGS ProMod Challenge title.

“The JEGS ProMod Challenge has become one of the crown jewels of the Pro Modified racing world,” said Rowe, whose two-car team receives additional support from Embee Performance. “To be in the top five in the points standings with both Kirk’s [Kuhns] car and my own is nothing short of phenomenal, especially when you take into consideration the caliber of the drivers and cars we’re competing against. We understand that it’s going to take a great coming together of sorts to see this season finish how we’d like, but that doesn’t really change things – I don’t see any race that this team can’t win.”

Rowe’s teammate, Kirk Kuhns, who sits in the No. 5 points slot, has been a regular in the late elimination rounds this year at the controls of the Embee Performance/General Plumbing-backed ’41 Willys and feels the trusty hot rod might just have enough to make a run at Virginia Nationals championship this weekend.

“We’ve got the only Willys in the field and it’s a well-known fact that we’re giving up some performance with this body style, especially in quarter-mile racing, but the car has been really popular with the fans this year and, more than that, it’s been incredibly consistent,” said Kuhns. “This weekend in Richmond we’re going to have the conditions and the track to really get after it, and I think a Jimmy Rector super-tune is going to be hard to beat.”

Rowe and Kuhns will begin qualifying Friday with two sessions scheduled for the always exciting door slammer category; the first at 3:00 PM and the second at 5:30 PM. Qualifying will then resume Saturday afternoon at 1:30 PM with the first round of eliminations slated for 4:00 PM.
