<P> (8/26/08) LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. – Few things can prepare a driver or race team for the biggest event in drag racing – the 54th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals – but the Danny Rowe Racing team is poised for what promises to be a historic event as 25 drivers fight for a spot in the 16-car Pro Modified eliminator. Both team owner/driver Danny Rowe and teammate Kirk Kuhns currently hold the No. 4 and 5 spots in the JEGS Pro Mod Challenge point standings and have a serious shot at winning the coveted U.S. Nationals this weekend in Indianapolis.

The JEGS ProMod Challenge has been contested at the “Big Go” for the last seven years and Danny Rowe is anxious to add his name to the growing list of those to take home the crown.

“I think every drag racer worth his weight in salt realizes what the U.S. Nationals are all about,” says Rowe, driver of the Hottinger Group ’67 Camaro. “Just having the opportunity to be there is one thing, but to have a competitive team and be there with the chance of winning is pretty unbelievable.”

Considering the list of former world champions and big name drivers like Shannon Jenkins, Rickie Smith, Josh Hernandez and a host of others will also be on the property of O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis making a final round appearance or even qualifying an uphill battle.

“I think the one thing we have to do here is go in confident and know that we’ve got a competitive program,” says Rowe. “We can’t try and outsmart ourselves or put too much pressure on any one person or part of the team – just go in and do what do we do.”

Rowe continued, “I believe we’re looking at one of the most competitive, if Not the most competitive, fields in Pro Modified history. The quality of the cars, the team and the drivers in attendance is unreal – the elite of the sport are going to be there and it’s going to be an exciting weekend.”

Despite his responsibilities as a driver, Rowe also realizes the importance of this event and the significance of his two-car team’s placement in the Top 5 in the point standings going into the late-rounds of the 2008 JEGS ProMod Challenge season. With only four events left to decide the champion, both Rowe and Kuhns can’t ignore the potential the team has for taking home the championship and possibly finishing No. 1 and 2 in the series.

“It feels really, really good to be where we are right now,” says Rowe, who receives additional support from NGK Spark Plugs. “Being that we have two cars in the Top 5, we can’t overlook the potential we have as a team. Both our Hottinger Group Camaro and the EMBEE Performance Willys are qualifying well and going rounds; I feel we’ve got two of the best and most consistent race cars out there – so with a little bit of luck and the drivers doing what we’re supposed to do, I think we’ve got a shot at this deal. That’s what we set out to do for our sponsors – finish one and two.”
