Pre-Race Report
With two #1 and two #2 qualifying weekends in the last NHRA four races, Cruz Predregon and team have the Snap-on® "Makers and Fixers" Dodge® SRT® Hellcat® right where they want it for Epping.
"This Snap-on car is really responding well to our cool weather setup, and it should pay off for us with the lower temps expected in New England this weekend," says Cruz. "We’re still working on a good setup for when we have a hot track that gets slippery, but we see that coming together for us before we get into the warmer conditions in the months ahead.”
The team was able to gather data from runs during the weeks off including a rare matchup between the Snap-on Funny Car and the R+L Top Fuel Dragster. Cruz invited NHRA Top Fuel championship contender Josh Hart to make a side-by-side run at Lucas Oil Raceway over the Memorial Day Weekend. The event was part of Cruz’s primary sponsor’s Snap-on Superspeedway contest that hosted franchisees, winning customers, and their guests for a weekend at the Indy 500 prior to an immersive drag-racing experience that included instruction at the Frank Hawley Drag Racing School and wrapped with the Funny Car vs. Top Fuel Dragster exhibition race before dinner at the track. The tree was adjusted accordingly, and even though Hart came out on top, both racers called the day a “win” for everyone who attended.
Prior to the race, Cruz will ride along with Nitro Franchisee Brian Beaulieu who spends many weekends here at the track in Epping. His son races Junior Dragsters and just began racing in the Junior Street division. His son is taking part in the Junior Dragster display you can see on the Midway along with the 100 or so of Brian’s customers he’s bringing with him to the track this weekend. Brian was an auto technician before he took on his Snap-on franchise 15 years ago.
