Bertsch looking for strong outing in home state

MARTIN, Mich. - IHRA Torco's CompetitionPlus.com Pro Stock driver Bob Bertsch and his Rislone Engine Treatment backed team are hoping for a strong performance in front of their home state fans during this weekend's Torco Race Fuels Nationals at Knoll Gas Motorsports Park just outside of Grand Rapids, Mich. Bertsch enters the event hot off a semifinal finish two weeks ago in Grand Bend, Ont., and hopes to build on that this weekend in his Jon Kaase powered 2007 Ford Mustang.

Bertsch, from just down the road in Willis, Mich., feels the year has been a continual development process, and hopes to make more forward progress this weekend.

"We're excited about the way the car is running," said Bertsch. "We hope to continue the progress we've been making this year. This is only our second season running Pro Stock, so, needless to say it's a steep learning curve. It has been fun to run well and qualify at our past few races. It makes it even better when you go rounds. Our goal for this weekend is to qualify in the top half so we can have lane choice on Sunday. We're going to keep tweaking on this Rislone Mustang until we get to the top."

Bertsch also cites racing in his and his sponsor Rislone's home state is extra motivation.

"Being only two and a half hours from the track makes it nice," stated Bertsch. "It's definitely a lot easier ride than some of the other tracks. We test here occasionally, so we're familiar with the facility. We enjoy racing close to home and we look forward to having Rislone and Bar's Leaks guests on hand. We really want to make a good showing for Rislone and Bar's Leaks in their home state of Michigan. We really appreciate their support of our team, so we would love to reward them with an Ironman this weekend."

Qualifying begins on Friday, followed by two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
