BECKMAN QUICKEST IN FINAL QUALIFYING ROUND, NAILS NO. 5

NORWALK, Ohio (June 30, 2007) - Jack Beckman is beaming this weekend at the Inaugural Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals. Not only did he drive the Mail Terminal Services Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car into No. 5 in qualifying, he did it with four consistent passes, which earned his team the Full Throttle Award for consistency in qualifying. His final pass today of 4.842/319.07, in the heat of the day, was the quickest of the round.

His best pass of the weekend, a 4.773/326.16, came in the cooler Friday-night session. His other laps were a 4.910/312.78 and a 4.933/304.60.

"Of all the ups of this weekend and there's tons of ups, including the terrific fans here, being at an awesome facility, and running as well as we did four runs in a row - which is also awesome practice for me - the biggest charge right now is that our MTS Dodge guys won the Full Throttle Award," said Beckman who still holds the national top-speed record of 333.66 mph he set in 2006.

"(Crew chiefs) Todd Okuhara and Phil Shuler and all the guys have been incredible all year long. And I think now we're jelling better and it's showing in the consistency of the car. But that award is the one award that really belongs to the crew, so to be able to get that for them is just absolutely great."

Beckman faces 14-time champion John Force in the opening round of eliminations on Sunday.
