WORSHAM STAYS LOCKED IN 12th

Del Worsham went 1-for-2, sort of, on Saturday, but his position in the #12 spot (as well as all those from his spot on up to the No. 1 position) remained unchanged on this sunny day in Bristol. Worsham smoked the tires near the 330-mark on his first Saturday pass, then made a full lap on his final attempt, though with a cylinder out near the top end, posting a 4.906 in the process. Gary Densham and Tony Bartone where the only two drivers who managed to dramatically bump their way into the field on the last lap, knocking notables Tommy Johnson and Jack Beckman off the starting grid.

Worsham will face Robert Hight in round one.

"This shows you how important thousandths of a second can be," Worsham said. "We landed 12th last night by three thousandths, which means we kept our 4.84 and the other guys right there with us didn't. Had it gone the other way, with one of the other 4.84s being the one that grabbed 12th, we would have pretty much for sure gone into the last session outside the field. I think, looking at the sheet, that the 4.90 we ran on the last pass would've gotten us in 16th, but that's a total hypothetical because who knows how we would've tuned the car if we were trying to bump in, versus just trying to make a good lap like we were today. Our 4.84 did count, though, so we're 12th and we'll try to do some damage from there.

"It's never something you're happy about when you see you'll be racing a Force car, but anyone can beat anyone out here right now, so I feel just as confident going up there to race Robert as I do racing anyone else. I respect everyone out here, and think they're all tough. All we can do is hope we have a fair and equal track, in terms of the lanes, and if we have a shot we'll give Robert all he can handle. I'm ready to go, right now."
