Fling Traylor's USA-1 turbine exhibition dragster was certainly a crowd pleaser whenever it ran at Lions. Announcer Bernie Mather at Lions could really do a great job of building excitement when this car would run on a Saturday night.

With 2 drivers that I recall at the helm, Hank Westmoreland and George "The Stone Age Man" Hutchinson, this car was unique and very cool to watch with a far different sound and look. Thing would boil the hides, great stuff again at Lions.

I saw this car run at San Fernando, with Hutchinson driving it. Come to the line, dead silent. Bang! Big flame out of the exhaust? Tailpipe? and down the track it went. I read that the car was later converted to a rear engined T/F car.
