TIME TRIALS COMPLETE, ELIMINATIONS CONTINUE SAT MORNING AT NHRA JR. EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS

BRISTOL , Tenn. – Day two of racing is in the books at the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals. However, due to rain delays throughout the day only the last round of time trials and the first round of eliminations in the 15 and 16-17 year old category were completed. NHRA race officials were forced to move the first round in all other categories to Saturday morning at 8 a.m.

Racers in all individual categories are competing for the coveted Wally trophy as well as a $5000 savings bond. In the Team Category winners receive a Wally trophy and each team member receives a $300 savings bond. Taking the track today to defend their titles were Tyler Nay, of Newcomerstown , Ohio , in the 15 year old category and Kara Stricker of Mohnton , Pa. , in the 16-17 year old category.

Friday’s fun activities for the kids included a barbeque hosted by Bristol Dragway for all racers and their families which included hamburgers and hot dogs. Kids were also invited by Bristol Dragway to take part in the Kidzone which was made up of an inflatable play area, basketball court and an above ground pool.

Other defending champions that will take the track Saturday morning for the first round of eliminations include Nikolette Schroeder of Avon Lake , Ohio , Courtney Wright of Fairview , Tenn. , Jacob Morris of Wallingford , Pa. , and brothers Parker & Schafer Suggs of Warner Robbins, Ga.

Racing continues on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. General admission tickets are $15 and children 6 and under are admitted free.
