My first concert was back in the 60s at the Newcastle Odeon Cinema, headliners were Bo Diddley, Little Richard & the Everly Brothers. The Rolling Stones were bottom of the bill and only sang two songs - "Come On" and "Not Fade Away," very good cover versions of Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly songs. Everly Brothers in concert at the Newcastle City Hall in 1983 during their Reunion Tour and at the Newcastle City Hall on 15 November 2005, still great harmonies.

The Hollies, Searchers, Freddie & The Dreamers, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas at Lincoln when l was in the Royal Air Force between '61 and '65.

The Supremes, Little Stevie Wonder, Martha & The Vandellas, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles and The Temptations on the first Tamla Motown tour of Great Britain at the Newcastle City Hall in 1962. The venue was approx a quarter full, today any one of these groups/artistes would sell out any big venue within hours.

A concert in Lincoln in 1964 with Chuck Berry headlining, support acts included Long John Baldry & The Hoochie Coochie Men, Zoot Money's Big Roll Band & The Graham Bond Organisation. Graham Bond's group included Ginger Baker on drums and Jack Bruce on bass guitar, they later left to form Cream with Eric Clapton. Chuck Berry in the late 90's at Sunderland Empire.

My favourite group of all time the Beach Boys in concert four times at the Newcastle City Hall, Nov 1966, Dec 1968, May 1972 and 1977. Early in 1972, the band hired drummer Ricky Fataar and guitarist Blondie Chaplin, two members of a South African rock band named The Flame. Captain & Tennille became touring backup musicians for the Beach Boys. In addition to touring with the Beach Boys, Captain & Tennille appeared on their albums of the period, including Sunflower and Holland.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer in concert at the Newcastle Odeon Cinema in 1971 and at the Newcastle City Hall in 1992.

Led Zeppelin (Best Rock Band Of All Time) at the Newcastle City Hall in 1972, deaf for two days but well worth it.

The Who in 1973 at the Newcastle Odeon Cinema when they released "Quadrophenia," and in November 2000 with Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) on drums at the Newcastle Arena.

The Osmonds on 14 April 1980 at the Newcastle City Hall, the whole family straight from Las Vegas, laser show, very professional.

Pat Benatar on 27 January 1983 at the Newcastle City Hall.

Whitesnake in 1997 and June 2006 at the Newcastle City Hall.

Cher at the Newcastle Arena in 1998, great voice, 9 costume changes made the concert longer than usual.

ZZ Top at the Newcastle Arena in 2003.

My favourite female singer Shania Twain in concert five times. The first time was in Glasgow, Scotland in 1999, she was incredible, so was her band. Saw her in Hyde Park London on 12 July 2003 and at the Newcastle Arena on 28 July 2003, 14 February 2004 and 11 March 2004.

G3 featuring Robert Fripp, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai on 25 June 2004 at the Newcastle City Hall. Robert Fripp and Joe Satriani weren't very good but Steve Vai was outstanding, he's a guitar virtuoso. Steve Vai in concert at the Newcastle City Hall on 22nd October 2005.

The Shadows, Britain's best instrumental group of all time - probably the world's at the Newcastle City Hall in May 1989 and on their Final Tour in 2004

Bonnie Riatt on 6 July 2004 at the Newcastle City Hall.

Deep Purple on 11 September 2004 at the Newcastle City Hall, l'm going to see them at the Newcastle Arena with Styx in April 2007.

Robert Plant and his band Strange Sensation on 21 October 2004 at the Newcastle City Hall, l also saw him in concert at The Sage, Gateshead on 30 October 2005

Aerosmith at the Newcastle Arena

Brian Wilson, writer of the vast majority of Beach Boys songs. In January 2002 at the London Royal Festival Hall, his 10 piece band which included "The Wondermints" were the best l've ever heard, the voices and sounds were so good that the "Pet Sounds Live" CD/DVD was recorded over the 4 nights and released in the UK a week before it was released in the USA, which was a first.

Bon Jovi in August 2000 at the Gateshead International Stadium, an excellent rock 'n' roll band with Richie Sambora on lead guitar, he was married to Heather Locklear (the lucky sod) but decided to divorce.

Thunder at the Newcastle City Hall in 2006

Journey at the Newcastle City Hall on 2 March 2007 :D :D :D

My first concert was Fleetwood Mac on the Rumours tour in '77. Since then I haven't a clue as to whom I've seen nor how many!

My first was Leon Russell. My best was Pink Floyd. in between was the Who, the Kinks, Heart,Steve Miller,Beach Boys,P.O.D. Too many to remember.

I've only been to a couple of concerts. I just saw the B-52s at the New West Fest in Fort Collins and I saw Billy Idol at Mandaly Bay ( House of Blues) New Years eve 2000. I saw Thai band that sounded like the Scorpions at Xzyte in Pattaya May 2004.:D

My first concert was Cheap Trick and the Michael Schenker Group back in 1980, and the most recent one was Social Distortion about a year and a half ago. In between, I've been to close to 100 different concerts and the bands that I've seen the most are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dokken, Social Distortion, and Bad Religion (each band 4 times).

The best concert I've seen to was KROQ's Inland Invasion back in 2002. On the first stage was The Distillers, The Adolescents, TSOL, Circle Jerks, GBH, and The Vandals. On the main stage was New Found Glory, X, The Buzzcocks, Unwritten Law, The Damned, Pennywise, Social Distortion, Bad Religion, Blink 182, The Offspring, and finally The Sex Pistols. Although there were a couple bands that should have been left off the bill, this was an awesome way to celebrate 25 years of punk rock.

Probably one of the worst shows I've ever seen was Metallica back in '96. The band seemed to go through the motions thru the whole show, but the band finally jumped the shark with the Spinal Tap-ish act of having a roadie fall from the lighting rig, and dangling above the stage, having the entire P.A go out, and having another roadie bringing out some practice amps, only to have the P.A restored as the song "Am I Evil" kicked into full gear.
Of course this is only my opinion, what the hell do I know about rock n roll anyway? :D

Peace,
Mike Cornelius

I have seen Metallica roughly 45 times all over the United States. The best show I was at was Woodstock 99. The energy Metallica conveyed into the crowd was numbing. By far of all of the bands I have seen Metallica puts on the best show. Some of the other bands I have seen include Kiss, Bon Jovi, Creed, Three Doors Down, Korn, Rage Against the Machine, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Danzig, Nickleback, Disturbed, Ozzy, Rob Zombie, Guns n' Roses, Motley Crue, Godsmack, and Pantera.

First was Johhny Winter/Jo Jo Gunne in 1973 at Hampton Roads, VA.

ZZ 5 times..last concert was Hoobastank with my kids a year ago..and I loved it.

Like Joe..there's just too many to list..and if I made one..I'd have to change it to put one I forgot back in. It goes from It's a Beautiful Day to Marshall Tucker..and 'all points in between'..hehe

I've seen The Stones, The Who, AC/DC, U2, The Police, The Clash, George Thorogood, Black Flag, Chuck Berry, Beach Boys, and about a hundred others.

None were as impressive as The man in black: Johnny Cash.

WOODSTOCK '99 !!!! - I was up in there, too.
my first show was guns n' roses with soundgarden opening.
i'm pushing close to 100 now, including taking my mom to see Clapton last night. i'll try to throw a better list together later.

Woodstock 99 was one of those weekends that I will never forget. There was nothing like spending $7 for a beer and $5 for a water to stay hydrated. I have some great war stories from that weekend also and the pictures are proof of the mayhem. My wife always asks me why I have grin on my face whenever I watch my Woodstock 99 DVD, I tell her you had to be there:D .

My 1st was April Wine in 1980. Best is a toss up between Priest (Defenders Tour) We drove past a free concert by Heart in Ft. Walton Bch, Fl. to go to Biloxi, Ms., Metallica (Black Album Tour) & TOOL (Lateralus Tour). I've seen so many it's all a funk. Others I've seen: Rush, Motley Crue, Ted Nugent, Iron Maiden, Dio, Tesla, Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Def Leppard, Ozzy, Dokken, Ratt, Billy Squire, Molly Hatchet, Night Ranger, AC/DC, Blackfoot, Skynyrd, Foghat, Steppenwolf, Whitesnake, Eagles, Cheap Trick & many others I can't recall at this moment.

If they have sang country music in the last 20 years and been successful then I have probably seen them in concert. Dont do alot of other concerts but I have attended hundreds of country concerts. My grandma said that she's been to way too many concerts of everyone you can think of, but no one comes close to Elvis. I didnt get the chance to see him, but I am sure his concerts would be awesome.

Best concert - Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band!
Other good mention is Lynyrd Skynyrd with Bad Company & Drivin' & Cryin'.
Have seen tons though...couldn't think of them all probably...

Most times and best concert: George Strait
Most recent: Steely Dan and Michael McDonald
Best surprise: Seeing Strait in Nashville on my 30th birthday, then seeing Craig Morgan the same night at a honky tonk in N'ville.
Can't believe I went to: Bobby Brown circa 1988
Would still like to see: Reba McEntire
Don't care to see again: Garth Brooks (that whole Chris Gaines thing is where he jumped the shark)

Steve, ditto, cept the Bobby Brown part. Just saw Willie Nelson at Pala Casino a few months ago. Great place, only holds about 300 people.

Never ever been to any concerts before, my olders kids have, but not me.
I did work a Barry White show at the old Aladdin back in 95/96?

I would love to see a Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Eagles, Elton John, or Celine Dion show though ---there's a bunch of people I'd like to see... I'm just to much of a homer, I should get out more.
I guess I could go see Celine at Caesars if I made the time?

This right up my alley and y'all are going to seriously raise your eyebrows when you see this list. Heh.

My very first concert was YES with my mom and sister in 1983. I was 5. Slept the whole way home after watching the show from my sister's shoulders.

Fastforward.

Dave Matthews Band, Tacoma Dome, 1998, with my soon-to-be-husband and my mom. That was my first concert as a music lover in my own right. :) Seen them twice after that. Love DMB.
Live (twice, second time on my 25th birthday). Sugar Ray. Third Eye Blind. Tonic. Alanis Morrisette (twice). Barenaked Ladies (hated them). Garbage. Everclear. Oasis (twice, not enough). Travis. Jet. Kasabian. Green Day. Sugarcult (will see them again right after the Vegas race). New Found Glory (sucked). Hoobastank (sucked). Velvet Revolver (aka Guns n Pilots, I was able to get a foot from Weiland. My friend touched him. Religious experience). Fall Out Boy. All American Rejects. Hawthorne Heights. Ozzy Osbourne. Disturbed. Rob Zombie. Godsmack. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Lenny Kravitz. Pink. Widespread Panic. Macy Gray. Art Alexakis (lead singer, Everclear) solo show at El Corazon, met him after the show, was a total goober, love him. Toad the Wet Sprocket. Matisyahu. Jewel. Lefthand Smoke. Blue Scholars. R.E.M. Foo Fighters. Pete Yorn. My Morning Jacket.
(some of these were opening acts ... NFG and Hoobastank, for example, both of whom I loathe).

Going to see The Who tonight at Key Arena. OMG. Stoked.
Going to see Queensryche this Saturday perform Operation Mindcrime and Operation Mindcrime II.
Going to see Sugarcult on Nov. 2 at El Corazon (little club, tix were $13 apiece). I hope to meet them. They are one of my favorite bands hanging out under the radar.

Clapton! He's touring? Where? I MUST SEE HIM! OMG.
And to the person who saw the Distillers, were they amazing? I love them. I am afraid to go see a show. I don't think I'm punk enough anymore.

I am sure I forgot some. I've seen a ton of shows this year. I keep saying I won't go see anymore. But, I can't seem to stop.
