Spiering up for IHRA fight in Martin
“There’s big Torco money up for grabs, we want it more than ever”

JORDAN STATION, ONTARIO (August 1, 2007) – Following a minor setback when he failed to qualify for a recent International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) meet and ended a streak dating back to Rockingham in 2004, Carl Spiering and his Eaton-sponsored Camaro Pro Modified team are even more determined going into the upcoming Torco Racing Fuels Northern Nationals and the Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Mod Shootout.

“It was a huge disappointment not qualifying in Grand Bend,” said Spiering, the 42-year old driver from Jordan Station, Ontario. “It was a valve train problem that arose with a few teams, the difficulty has been rectified, and we are ready to run.”

Spiering, who qualified seventh in this year’s Shootout, will be one of the favorites as the IHRA’s Pro Modified contingent “great eight” race-off to determine the best in the Pro Modified ranks.

“There’s big Torco money up for grabs, we want it more than ever,” added Spiering. “It should be a knock-down, drag ‘em out dog fight and we’re ready.”

The Eaton Road Warrior will face off against the number two qualifier Dan Rowe, who finished second in the world championship points race last season. Rowe, from Rossville, GA, drives a '63 Corvette, and will be Spiering’s first round match-up in the chase over other teams in the Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Modified class for earning points based on each team’s final qualifying spot at each national event. The top eight point earners in the division will have the opportunity this weekend to participate in the 2007 Pro Mod Shootout.

The Shootout eliminations will take place during qualifying for the Torco Racing Fuels Northern Nationals.

The Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Mod Shootout, to be contested in Martin, MI, during the Torco Racing Fuels Northern Nationals on August 3-5, the sixth of 11 events on the $19.5 million Knoll Gas Nitro Jam™ Drag Racing Series.
