Snyder Wins Third Straight Thunder Nationals Runs Career Best ET

This past weekend, Mick Snyder and the Snyder Motorsports Race Team headed to Knoll Gas Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan for the National City Thunder Nationals and for the third year in a row they came out victorious. It was the second outing of the year for the Team sponsored by Powersource Transportation and they put together a string of good runs, including a 5.57 pass, Snyder’s personal best ET.

“It was a great weekend for the whole Team. We have been working really hard at this for a long time and we feel like it is finally all coming together. We came in here planning to test for the Norwalk Divisional event next weekend and put on a show for the amazing fans they have here in Michigan. I think we accomplished our goals,” said Snyder.

The Team qualified number one for the event with a 5.63 pass. In the first round of eliminations, Snyder ran a 5.59 in his brand new Spitzer built chassis which earned him lane choice in the final round. Then in the finals, the second-generation driver covered the quarter mile in 5.57 seconds, a career best ET.

“We are really excited about the way the new combination is responding to our changes. Hopefully, this is a sign of what is to come the rest of the year. I can’t say enough about my crew. This was the first weekend we were trying to run 2 cars, with Shanna running her Spitzer dragster as well, things got a little hectic, but everyone did such an amazing job getting this car prepared. We are an all volunteer crew and they really don’t get enough credit for all the hard work they put in week in a week out, I couldn’t ask for a better group of people.”

“This is one of our favorite events of the year. The fans are awesome and it’s a nice track with great people and they really know how to fill the stands. It is so laid back because there are no points or anything so we are able to go out and have a good time. Skip, the owner of Powersource Transportation, and his wife Barb were on the grounds the entire weekend and it was great to be able to put the car in the winner’s circle at the end of the day. I really can’t thank them enough for all they do for us. Now that we have a baseline, I’m so excited to go to Norwalk next weekend to see what this car can do there.”

The next event for the Team will be next weekend, May 16th thru the 18th, for the Division 3 Lucas Oil series event.
