Shane Gray Eager to Take Advantage of Fast Racetrack in Gainesville (1 Viewer)

DENVER, N.C. (March 13, 2013) – Pro Stock driver Shane Gray and his Gray Motorsports team have been monitoring progress in recent weeks in regard to their engine program and their ever-evolving Chevy Camaro hot rod, and the young team from Denver, N.C., is eager to see what the 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals will bring this weekend.

The yearly event at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville, the third race of 24 on NHRA's Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule, is projected to take place in favorable conditions, with temperatures hovering in the upper 70-degree range – not exactly national record-breaking weather, but certainly prime conditions for great racing.

"The racetrack in Gainesville is known to be fast for the Pro Stock cars, and we sure like that," said Gray. "You know us racers, when we're given those conditions that satisfy our craving, we're real happy. We're on the right track with our program and it is coming along, slowly but surely, so right now every single pass down the racetrack we make is only going to make us stronger in the long run. Yeah, it's fair to say that the Gray Motorsports team is looking forward to Gainesville."

Gray and his Justin Elkes-led crew tested the Gray Motorsports Chevy Camaro in the days leading up to the Gatornationals, and runs made at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida provided the groundwork for the weekend ahead that will take place further north in Gainesville.

With two races in the books so far this season, Gray has accumulated enough points to maintain a position in the top 10 in the Pro Stock standings, and the statistics show gradual improvement from race-to-race as Gray qualified 13th at the season-opener in Pomona and improved to 10th best in the field in Phoenix two weeks ago.

"We've got our heads down, and we are digging," said Gray. "This weekend, this Gray Motorsports team will have our eyes wide open looking for a little return."
