REED RACING PUMPED FOR BIGGEST EVER WINTERNATIONALS

Brisbane based Drag Racing outfit Reed Racing is pumped up at the prospect of competing at the biggest ever Drag Racing event in Australia and the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, the 40th Anniversary of Willowbank Raceways Winternationals from the 8th-10th June.

The Nulon Engine Oils backed team has enjoyed solid results already this season and fresh off the back of complete engine rebuilds in their two Top Alcohol entries, are confident that they will be running among the top of competition at the final event for the Australian Championship season.

With Steven Reed in his Nulon Engine Oils Funny Car currently running 3rd in the Championship, and Debbie Reed in her Nulon Dragster 5th, they have shown they both have the mettle and desire to go all the way and with a bit of luck can convert to winner’s trophies.

On the back of a runner up in Sydney last month, Steven will be one of the top Queenslander racers leading the charge into the weekend’s finale.

“I have had some great consistent performances since launching my new car at the start of the year including a runner up at the Nitro Champs,” Steven said.

“Unfortunately I suffered some engine damage in my semi-final win so couldn’t challenge for the winners trophy as much as I would have liked, but we have been getting some great data to play with and I am confident of going quicker.”

“My consistency throughout the season has kept me in a good position in the Championship, but like all the drivers I will be aiming for outright honours at the Winternationals.”

“It would be great to finish the season how Debbie (Reed) began it, with a win!”

Current Supercharged Outlaws series leader and fellow Reed Racing team member Daniel Reed will also be taking to the Willowbank Raceway track in his ‘Start Ya Bastard’ altered at Winternationals.

With the Australian Championship firmly in his sights, he knows that the pressure will be on for a good result if he is to take home his first National Title.

“I have a 40-point buffer out in front but there is no room for complacency, it is vital that I go well at the Winternationals if I am to win the Championship,” Daniel said.

“In saying that, if I continue with what we’ve been doing this year and remain progressive in our approach, there’s no reason why I cant go on with it.”

“As the series leader the pressure will be really on though, there are a lot of other races out there that will be looking to take me out early.”

“But Willowbank Raceway is my home track and I know it well, it would be the ideal way to finish off the season with a win and the Title up here in Queensland .”

As well as being the largest Drag Racing event in the Southern Hemisphere, the Winternationals is also the pinnacle event for the sport in the Australian calendar and the final round of the National Drag Racing Championship.
