POINT-LEADER FULLER CAPTURES FOURTH POLE OF THE SEASON SATURDAY AT READING

READING, Pa. (Aug. 18, 2007) – Rod Fuller raced his David Powers-owned Ransome CAT dragster to his fourth pole of the season Saturday at Maple Grove Raceway. The five-time NHRA Top Fuel winner used a Rob Flynn tune-up to clock a 4.521-second pass to sit on pole. It is his sixth career No. 1 qualifying award.

Fuller sat on pole by using Flynn’s “Canadian Horsepower” to blast his yellow-and-black dragster to a pass of 4.521 seconds at 327.19 mph. Fuller raced the Ransome CAT/Valvoline-backed rail to the quickest run of both sessions on Friday. The Las Vegas racer’s dragster overpowered the track on Saturday’s first attempt. He concluded qualifying by cruising to the second quickest pass of the final qualifying session, 4.602 at 320.89. In May, Fuller drove his Fabick CAT dragster to the pole at the St. Louis race. He also has earned poles at Atlanta and Norwalk .

“It’s an awesome feeling because it’s a critical time of the year for us as we want to run good heading into Indy and we want to continue to impress the CAT folks,” Fuller said. “We want to go out there and put on a good show for the Ransome CAT people this weekend. We’ve done a great job on the track and off the track with the technician sign-ups. I’m bummed our teammate qualified 16th. That’s not a No. 16 car. They just had some bad luck. That happens sometimes.”

Fuller will face off against teammate Whit Bazemore when final eliminations begin at 11 a.m. (ET) on Sunday. Fuller is 2-0 versus Bazemore this season. ESPN2 will televise three hours of final eliminations coverage from the Toyo Tires Nationals at 10 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.
