Risky Maneuver Lands Snowboarder in a Coma

Regulations on safety on an inheirently dangerous sport....:eek:

Sounds familiar and worse, prophetic. If the IOC rules that a sport can be determined to be more dangerous than another similar one, and in turn, establishes additional rulings, including the banning of a specific practiced athletic manuevers that are part of the sport's innovation and excitement.
Gives pretty good ammo to lawyers that may care to pursue other types of sport because some will determine what is "too dangerous" for qualified competitors to attempt...:(

saw this story on bbc yesterday - think you bring up a good argument martin.

they should pull a 'drag racing' on the sport - decrease the grade of the hill;
you don't think the heights are higher and flips/twists are increasing
because of new wax do you!?.........they've got be getting a longer takeoff
on a steeper grade and possibly even a tighter radius on sidewall.

IMO there are options available here without ruling on physical expression
by athletes - same as drag racing - if they didn't tell you the hill is flatter,
95% would never know the difference.
