I stumbled upon a cool online sequencer this morning, onlinesequencer.net/

Easy to use, and best of all it's free. It's a good tool for writing riff ideas quickly or creating practice loops.

I threw together a four-bar loop of staccato piano, bass, cello, and acoustic guitar- http://onlinesequencer.net/69925

Now, with the acoustic drumkit, I can superimpose other time signatures (5, 7, 13,etc) over the 4/4 or just solo over it. Fun stuff!

Cool. I assume you have some sort of click track. Use headphones or ear buds? Or do you have in-ear monitors? Speaking of songs that require a click track, I am always astounded at the beginning of Red Sector A, such a great riff and so keeping you guessing as to what's next, at least after not hearing it for a while.

Thanks for the information.
I sit at my drum kit every night and put on my headphones to Tower of Power and Buddy Guy along with Foreigner and a few other groups.

I started playing the drums 56 years ago and played in a number of Rock and Roll bands over the years.

Tom- Right now in the home studio I am using a Roland PM-10 monitor mainly because I like the live sound of the drums. One of my next investments should should be a set of high-isolation UltraPhones from GK-Music, as well as a really good set of in-ears and a monitor mixing console. A far as a click, it depends- in a practice scenario sometimes I will use one and just pick a time signature to place other time signatures against. I have never played live with a click, but generally do in a studio situation. By the way, a great metronome app is Tempo Advance.

Jim- That's a long time playing! What do you play for a kit? (I am a huge drum gear junkie!). what headphones do you use?
