Indy news and rumors

We had a crack team of 6 secret agent reporters on hand at Indy trying to uncover the dirty secrets behind the Questing journey as we chase for the cup or whatever the new points scam is called.

The brave 6, sometimes referred to as the psycho six, interviewed the people in the know, asked the tough questions and came up with some pretty shocking information. These rumors have yet to be 100% confirmed. Apparently in the effort to get as much ink as nascar the points change was only the tip of the iceberg.

Due to the super secret agent status of these reporters I'll leave them anonymous unless they wish to reveal themselves.

-Rusty Wallace will be driving a Toyota Pro Stock car next year

-After winning a race, drivers will do donuts on the return road or in the grass. Frank Hawley will be providing classes on the proper way to spin a dragster

-Restrictor plates will be required for all of the tracks with short shutdown areas.

-No more DQ for crossing the centerline, so people can feel free to give their opponent a little love tap into the wall. This figures to create fireworks as once the quest begins a team driver in 9th, an out of the hunt, will be able to take out the number 1 guy to help his teammates.

-pit stop in the middle of the race. Now there are actually 2 plans with this one and they are trying to figure out which would be best. One involves a midrace pit stop the other has it happening right after the burnout

-no more lights on the score board signaling who wins. There will be flag man with checkered flag sitting atop them

-oil downs with result in teams being black flagged

-Sadly there will no longer be a tree, the starter will yell drivers start your engines then drop the green flag for them to go.

-no more qualifying based on times. There will now be provisional's, owner points and past champs allowed to enter. This will make for uneven fields though and with the effort to keep the racing to 4 rounds some races may have more than 2 cars racing at once. This will allow drafting to enter the sport.

There will also be some revisions in the point system to help cars that have not qualified well or not even qualified at at all..

It will be called the "EE" Rule...

But wait till next year.. .. if a driver don't qualify in the first 17 races they (NHRA) will make an extra slot for that driver.. its called a "EE" spot... that stands for "Excellent Effort" this spot is to permit any car that really "Try's" HARD but cant make the field..to still have a shot at the championship..
So all you wanna-bee's just enter and if you go 17 races with out qualifying, you will earn the "EE" Excellent Effort slot to try for the championship...

Hey if NHRA can come up with scatter brain ideas.. I guess we're allowed to do the same.. ;)

And were the brave six plying their trade by greasing thing's up with a wheelbarrow loaded with a keg??
I thought I saw one sporting a keg with moon equipment logo on it being pushed towards the fuel pits by a grizzled scraggly looking dude with a floppy hat and a Detroit Pistons shirt on.
Of course I could be mistaken!

2007 Changes in payouts for the pros when the chase begins.

1. Bounty Money - If you are the number 16 qualifier and you beat the number 1 qualifier during eliminations you get his qualifying money.

2. Double Bounty - If you are the number 16 qualifier and you beat the number 1 qualifier in the FINAL you get his qualifying money and his runner-up money.:p

Do we get Pro Stock Trucks back.... huh, huh, can we... please Tommy C?
Or Pro Stock SUV?????

And why the Plate rule for only NHRA Owned Tracks?

BREAKING NEWS. I promised I would not release this photo to the public, but promises are made to be broken. Kenny Bernstein made his first pass in his new/old funny car in a top secret location. Dale Armstrong came forward with the old wind tunnel papers, and found that if you put the wing of todays funny car, on the old Batmobile body, nothing else current even comes close. Somehow, Tim Gibson found out where the test was going to be, and was seen taking measurements, but quickly got escorted off the property. They ran that old car and went 4.75 early shut off 268 because the body was folding in. Hmm... remember Pomona '87?? It's like Deja Vu all over again!!

I love a good Photoshop early in the afternoon! :D Good stuff, Paul!!

I think this is one of the best threads I've seen on the Mater in months. :) Let the silly season continue!

For added excitement, All fuel classes are Mandated to use 110% Nitro, so they can give a 110% effort just like the coach in high school demanded.

All fuel cars are required to service the car after staging, teardown and rebuild time to count in run time, and as soon as rebuild is completed you may leave line and make run. Chutes, which must be laying in 'bleachbox' behind car when staged must be packed by driver after car is fired by shifting car to neutral, setting parking brake, and climbing from car. If driver forgoes packing of chutes, they may not be detached from car.

2. Double Bounty - If you are the number 16 qualifier and you beat the number 1 qualifier in the FINAL you get his qualifying money and his runner-up money.:p

That's pretty neat trick if you can do it Denny. If you can manage to reinstate the #1 qaulifier in time for him to make it to his final. :D
