MOHNTON, Pa. -- Clay Millican had nothing but good things to say about his first Top Fuel qualifying days six months . . . for good reason. He qualified 13th on his final run and recorded his first three-second, 1,000-foot elapsed time in the new Nitro Fish/Hope4Sudan dragster.

"To me, everything we've done here so far has been all positive," said the veteran competitor who hasn't raced since March. "We got down the track on three of our four runs and the motor was clean on all three. We didn't hurt anything."

Millican began the day with a 3.981-second run and improved that to his best of 3.966 seconds at 297.81 mph. He races J.R. Todd (fourth, 3.888 at 306.26 mph) in the first round.

"We know we have a long ways to go. We were happy just to make some laps.

"We want to put on a good showing for the Captain (Nitro Fish owner Kenny 'Captain Chaos' Koretsky. And I think this was a good debut for (new team owners) Mark and Lauren Pickens."
