NORWALK, Ohio (June 7, 2011) – Fans of high-horsepower, nitro-burning Funny Car competition need to look no further than the Salt Lake City and Edmonton Nitro Jam events to be held later this month.

Beginning at the Salt Lake Nitro Jam June 17-18 at Rocky Mountain Raceways followed by the Mopar Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals June 24-26 at Castrol Raceway, the western swing of the Nitro Jam tour will feature two of the biggest Funny Car showdowns of the season featuring many of the top competitors from across North America.

Nitro Jam’s western swing will feature two of the biggest Prostalgia NFC races of the year

“We are really looking forward to the Salt Lake and Edmonton events. We were very competitive in Utah last year and of course Edmonton is my hometown so these are two events I am very excited about,” said Tim Boychuk. “We know the caliber of competition that is coming to these two races so we are planning on giving our all to walk away with a win, especially in Edmonton. It will be interesting to run two different formats at back-to-back races, but we are up for the challenge. It should be a great week.”

The Salt Lake Nitro Jam will feature an eight car field of top Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car drivers running under the current Nitro Jam championship format. Competitors will run twice on both Friday and Saturday with the quickest winning drivers from round one returning for the championship later that night. The remaining competitors will compete in the consolation rounds for points and payout.

Among the superstar drivers coming to Salt Lake City will be the fastest man on four wheels when it comes to nostalgia Funny Car racing Tim Boychuk in the Troy Lee Designs Pontiac, along with “Mr. Explosive” Mark Sanders, Utah native Jack Harris in “Nitro Thunder”, Roger Garten in “War Horse”, Dale Pulde’s legendary “War Eagle” Trans Am, Mike Savage in the “Candies and Hughes” entry, Todd “The Pirate” Lesenko and Mike Grekul in the famous “L.A. Hooker” Mustang.

Such legendary machines as “War Eagle” and “Candies & Hughes” will put on a show for the fans

With such an incredible lineup of North America’s top Funny Car talent, drivers are anticipating one of the toughest races of the season under the current Nitro Jam rules as competitors hit the ground running with no qualifying passes. Once the drivers get behind the wheel they are racing making for some incredible races where anything can happen.

“With the current Nitro Jam format it really pushes you to be on your game right from the beginning,” said Mark Sanders. “You don’t get an opportunity to get any laps under your belt; it is pedal to the metal the whole weekend and we really look forward to that atmosphere. You can be sure ‘Mr. Explosive’ will be locked, loaded and ready to go looking for that Ironman trophy.”

Following the Salt Lake Nitro Jam many of the same competitors will head north of the border to legendary Castrol Raceway in Edmonton for the only open Nitro Jam Funny Car competition to be held this year at the Mopar Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals.

All three events will also feature Top Fuel Dragsters and Nostalgia Fuel Altereds, while Edmonton will have the added bonus of Alcohol Funny Cars, Nostalgia Funny Cars, Nitro Harleys and Pro Modifieds, but it will be the Funny Cars that truly steal the show during the biggest Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car events of the season.
