FULLER CLOCKS CAREER-BEST AT JOLIET , SITS SECOND IN TOP FUEL ORDER

JOLIET, Ill. (June 8, 2007) – Rod Fuller continues to pilot arguably the most impressive Top Fuel dragster on the NHRA circuit. Crew chief Rob Flynn tuned Fuller – this week behind the wheel of the Fabick CAT dragster – to a career-best elapsed time late Friday evening at Route 66 Raceway near Chicago at 4.464 seconds.

Looking to regain his place atop the Top Fuel standings this weekend during the 10th annual Route 66 Nationals, the four-time NHRA Top Fuel winner paced the Top Fuel field behind the wheel of his Flynn-tuned dragster after carding a run of 4.502 seconds at 325.85 mph on his first qualifying attempt. Fuller qualified the Fabick CAT dragster on the pole at the St. Louis race in early May with a 4.596-second E.T. Under the lights at the ultra-quick Joliet drag strip, Fuller blistered the quarter mile in 4.464 at 328.54 to earn the provisional No. 2 qualifying position. It was the quickest run of his career eclipsing the 4.466-second blast he recorded at the Phoenix race in February.

“Today was a great day,” Fuller said. “To come out of the box in the Fabick CAT car and run a 4.50 and qualify No. 1 had us excited about the night run. We thought we could run a career-best and that’s what we did. When I hit the throttle, it was unbelievable how fast it moved. Not that I was smiling, but it felt like I was. It was hauling. I knew it was close. They told me a 4.464 and I was very excited and the crew guys were very excited. It was a great run and we’re No. 2. You can’t hang your head over that.”

Top Fuel qualifying resumes on Saturday afternoon with sessions scheduled for 1 and 4:30 p.m. (CT) at the Joliet facility. ESPN2 will televise 90 minutes of qualifying highlights at 5 p.m. (ET) on Saturday evening.
